Kerala Cabinet Approved Smart City Treaty

The much awaited dream project Kochin Smart City Project is coming true. The main obstacle of the project, the free hold property right is finally settled in the meeting held on 2nd February, 2011 at Trivandrum. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and Dubai financial Centre Governer Ahamed Al Tayer has signed the Treaty. Norka Routes Vice Chairman , the NRI business man Yousuf Ali mediated the disputing meeting. The master plan will be prepared by the Tecom within one month. Out of the 246 acre land, 12% will be declared as special economic zone, which would mean that the prometers has no right to sell the property. Registration fee and Stamp duty will be exempted and both the parties will mutually agree with the treaty signed on 2007 May, 13. The disagreement on the matter of freehold property is now over and the project will start soon and is expected to bring a boom in IT sector and for the unemployed youth of the Kerala. |

Smart City Conference on 2nd February

Smart city conference will be held at Trivandrum on the 2nd February 2011. A representative of Dubai Government will come to Trivandrum to have a meeting with the Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan. The first phase of the project will start within 2 weeks if the controversial part of it gets settled. IT secretary K. Suresh Kumar had visited the concerned area to make the arrangements done. Official intimation has received from the Indian Ambassador in the UAE that the Dubai Supreme Fiscal Committee member Ahamed Al Tayr will arrive on 2nd February. Tecom had been demanding freehold right over 12 percent of the land, which was opposed by the Kerala Government. If some solutions arise during the meeting, Government will sign the agreement with the Dubai Representative. State Government is making arrangements for the commencement of the project, and had made conferences with KSEB and Info Park. |

Nation Pays Homage To Gandhiji

Nation pays homage to Gandhiji on his 63rd death anniversary, which is on January 30, and is observed as Martyr's Day. Gandhiji was assassinated on January 30, 1948. A two minute silent prayer at 11 am in tribute to the great man has done in all offices and institutions. Hundreds of students gathered at Rajghat and chanted devotional songs. In Kerala, the celebrations of the day was organised by KPCC. Ramesh Chennithala, Precident, KPCC, precided over the function at Indira Bhavan. |

Swathy Award for the year 2010 will receive the Ganagandharvan K.J. Yesudas. Kuroor Valia Vasudevan Namboothiri and Kalamandalam Appu Marar will share the Kadhakali Puraskar. Karavattedathu Narayana Menon and Thrippoonithura Krishnadas will receive Pallavoor Appumarar Puraskar. Kalaimamani Award given by the Tamilnadu Government will receive by Kalyani Menon and her son Rajeev Menon. |

Padma Awards Declared

Renowned Malayalam poet Njanapit award winner O.N.V. Kuruppu is chosen for Padmavibhooshan award. Planning commission vice president Montek Singh Ahluvalia, Wipro Chairman Asim Premji and 9 other eminent personalities has chosen for Padma Vibhooshan Award. It is the second valued Civilian Award in India. Infosys CEO Chris Gopalakrishnan, Writer and Journalist T.J.S. Geprge, Kadhakali artist Madavoor Vasudevan Nair, Playback singer Dr. S.P.Balasubhramanyam and 29 others will get the Padmabhooshan award. Ayurvedacharya, K. Raghavan Thirumulpadu will get the Padmabhooshan award posthumously. 84 persons will receive Padmasree award. Shaji. N. Karun, Gireesh Kasaravalli, Jayaram, Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, Kalamandalam Kshemavati, Usha Uthuppu, Mims Chairman Dr. Azad Muppan , Architect Sankar, Cardiologist Dr. Jose Chakko Periyapuram, Neurologist Dr. Marthanda Pillai, Cricketer V.V.S Laxman, Ritu Menon, Gagan Narang, Tabu, Kajol etc are included in the list of the receivers of Padmasree.

Satish Chandran Passes Away

Sathish Chandran, noted radio artist and sports commentator passes away in a private hospital at Trivandrum. He was presently working as the Ananthapuri FM Director and Akasavani Asst. Director. He was 59 and about to retire from the service in the coming October. He was suffering from Acute Diabetes. ‘Radio Ammavan’ was his famous dubbed character in Akasavani. “Thankal Queuevil anu”, the popular play on air was written by him. Kandathum Kettathum, Live Phone in Program, sports commentaries, documentaries etc are some of his notable programs in radio. He was the voice of Akasavani for the last four decades. |

KSEB LIMITED...

Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has got the registration certificate for being into a registered company. The Board will be named KSEB Limited here after. At present there will not be a change in its organizational level, report says. As part of the registration process, government has taken up the liabilities and properties and further proceedings include the exchange of the above said properties and liabilities. Rajeev Sadanandan, Chairman of the KSEB is going to enter the leave and Subratha Biswas IAS is expected to take up the charge. |
