MNP Launched… 21 Jan, 2011 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh flagged off a new, consumer friendly service, MNP (Mobile Number Portability) in the telecom sector. Through this service consumers can select the service providers without changing the number. It is a mile stone in the telecom industry and the service providers are now forced to introduce new plans and better service to keep the customers with them. Moblie numbers are enjoying the freedom to move between the service providers who offer the best service and schemes to the customer. Although the service is came into existence today, the service was experimentally implemented in Hariyana from November and around 1 lakh mobile customers have make use of the service as of now. The mobile service providers have already started campaigning with attractive offers and packages. But the consumers need to wait for atleast 4 days to activate the connection with the new service providers with the existing number. And the consumer has to stay with one service provider for at least 3 months before transferring to some other network. The MNP service costs 19 rupees in addition to the sim, recharge and top up expenses. This MNP service will be the beginning of a new era in the telecom industry and the consumers will get the best service than ever before. |
